Who we are
We have a team of specialists with experience across the disciplines of geology, engineering and offshore operations. We combine this specialist technical experience with financial, legal and commercial skills to provide a fast moving and entrepreneurial culture that aspires to operate to the highest corporate standards, but with minimum bureaucracy.
What we do
We focus on making discoveries in naturally fractured basement reservoirs and are working towards realising the value of the reserves and resources of these discoveries.
Fractured basement reservoirs are prolific producers globally but represent a new play on the UK Continental Shelf. Hurricane is technically led and driven, pioneering this play in the UK with a focus on the Atlantic margin, West of Shetland.
Where we operate
Hurricane has a portfolio of contiguous offshore licences on the UK Continental Shelf, West of Shetland.
The area is a proven petroleum basin with a number of large producing oil fields including Clair, Foinaven and Schiehallion.
Hurricane’s licences are focussed on the Rona Ridge, a major NE-SW trending basement feature. The water depth in the area is around 150 metres.
The West of Shetland region benefits from the established industry supply chain of the North Sea, and is subject to the same fiscal regime, but is a frontier area at a very different stage in its life cycle compared to the maturing North Sea.
Extensive exploration and appraisal work programmes have led to significant discoveries on Hurricane’s licences, at Lancaster, Whirlwind, Lincoln, and Halifax.
Hurricane has more discovered undeveloped UK oil resources than any other company. These resources are initially being progressed towards monetisation with two fast-tracked development projects at the 100%-owned Lancaster field, and at the 50%-owned Greater Warwick Area, which we are advancing in conjunction with our partner, Spirit Energy.
